Volunteers Needed ASAP
Parents,
WYLAX needs your help – please volunteer!! We are so thankful for all those parents who have volunteered to help our boys enjoy the fastest growing sport in America. Parent participation and support are key in assuring a successful boys lacrosse program. Please help out with activities such as being a parent assistant at practices or organizing our end of the season festivity.
Our volunteer needs include the following positions:
Webmaster - Our current webmaster is retiring after this season. Basic HTML editing skills are all that is required.
1-2 Team Coordinator
5-6 Team Coordinator
7-8 Team Coordinator
Team Coordinators are the first line of parent contact and will manage each team's TeamSnap page during the season.
Parent Assistant Coaches - Two parents at every level to help coaches keep the practices tightly focused.
Field Liners - We need at least two parents at every level to help line the fields throughout the season.
Picture Day Coordinator
Contact Wendi Makuch for more details.
WYLAX History
The Wilson Youth Lacrosse (WYLAX) boys program was started in 2003 as a recreational lacrosse club with the objectives of having fun, developing important skills, learning basic rules, cultivating a love for the game of lacrosse, and mentoring boys in their journey to manhood. Our goal: all boys who adhere to the rules get approximately the same amount of playing time, regardless of their skills or talents.
The 2003 combined team was comprised of 22 boys, 5th through 8th graders from the Wilson High School District. The 2007 season was the first year we added a 3-4 grade boys team. The 2008 season involved 92 boys on six squads, two for each team at 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 grade levels. In 2009, we hit yet another milestone - expanding to include a 1-2 grade team!
For 2013, we anticipate providing lacrosse playing opportunities for up to 140 boys across eight recreational teams and two select teams. |
