Parents and players new to lacrosse: Please join us for an informational meeting on Thursday, February 2nd at 7:00 PM in the Jackson Middle School library.

Practices/Games Expectations:

During practices and games, we expect discipline and attention from the players at all times. Girls should bring all required lacrosse equipment to practices or they cannot practice. They should be dressed for the elements (cold, wind and rain) and should also bring a water bottle (with water) to each practice. Players should be ready to go at practice start time with goggles on and eyes wide open to enjoy all the fun!

Each practice will begin with stretching and warm-ups. We will then hustle into passing/catching drills, followed by more specific instruction.

Club Communications:

Notices about games, practices, etc. will be sent out via e-mail. When you complete the online registration, please be sure to give us an e-mail address that you check regularly. NOTE: Since this will be a mass e-mailing, we request that you not “Reply All” unless you have a comment that is truly necessary to be viewed by all.

Parent Volunteers Needed

WYLAX needs your help – please volunteer! We are so thankful for those parents who have volunteered to help our girls enjoy the fastest growing sport in America. Parent participation and support are key in assuring a successful lacrosse program. Please help out if you can with activities such as being a parent assistant at practices, keeping score and time during games, field marking, and organizing our end of the season festivities. Your coaches will be able to find an activity for you to assist with.

WYLAX History

The Wilson Girls Youth Lacrosse program started in 2003 with one team of 6th through 8th graders. These girls were the pioneers along with a handful of other middle school lacrosse scattered across Oregon. Since that time, lacrosse participation in the Pacific Northwest has expanded many fold. In less than a decade, WYLAX has expanded to include several teams serving girls in 1st through 8th grade.

Coached and managed by parent volunteers, the WYLAX girls program has been a leader in developing lacrosse as a fun and competitive spring sport ini Oregon. We are pleased that many of our graduates go on to play lacrosse at Wilson High School and at other private schools in the Portland area.

The University of Oregon started an NCAA Division 1 women's lacrosse program in 2006, and many other Northwest colleges and universities compete at the club level. Simply put, lacrosse is exciting, fun to play, and regarded as the fastest growing girls sport in the country.

Come on out and play!
