Lax Gear for Boys

Lacrosse equipment can be purchased at Dicks Sporting Goods, Bigfoot Lacrosse, and other local sporting goods stores.

Required Lacrosse Equipment

  • Helmet
  • Mouth guard (helmet strap type is recommended, purchase at least two)
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Elbow Pads
  • Padded Lacrosse Gloves
  • Athletic Protective Cup
  • Shoes with cleats (lacrosse, football, or soccer cleats will work, no baseball spikes)
  • Wilson Game Jersey (provided for new registered players)
  • Rib Pads (optional)
  • 2 or 3 Lacrosse Balls for home use (do not bring to practice)
  • Water Bottle (with water) that can be accessed without removing helmet

Suggested/Appropriate Clothing Layers (for cold, rainy practices and games...this is spring in Oregon after all!)

  • Socks: polypropylene wick away as first layer and wool or wool/polypropylene as next layer
  • Shirt: NOT cotton but “under armour” type wick away as first layer next to skin
  • Additional wick away layers if needed depending on how susceptible the boy is to cold/wet weather
  • Fleece jacket that fits comfortably over pads (so they still have good throwing/catching range of motion)
  • Thin waterproof jacket might also help help

Tips for keeping hands warm
Some kids use "hotties" (hand warmers that you shake to activate) inside their gloves on cold days. Another suggestion is to wear latex gloves as a first layer. For those really cold days, both suggestions may be appropriate.

Used Equipment
Wilson Youth Lacrosse also runs a used gear exchange.
We have the following in various sizes:

  • Gloves
  • Chest Pads
  • Cleats of all sizes
  • Helmets
  • Sometimes even sticks
