IBW Youth Lacrosse

Boys Club History

The IBW Boys Youth Lacrosse club (previously Wilson Youth Boys Lacrosse) program was started in 2003 as a recreational lacrosse club with the objectives of having fun, developing lacrosse skills, learning the rules and cultivating a love for the game of lacrosse. In 2003 the first combined team was comprised of 22 boys. Today we have over 80 boys playing lacrosse and are now planning for our 19th season.

With boys in grades 1-8, we typically have players in our program attending up to as many as 20 different elementary, middle and private schools. Lacrosse is a great game for many reasons, one of them is how many new friends everyone makes each season.

The Boys Lacrosse club is run by volunteers. We ask every family to contribute in some way in order to ensure a successful season. It is through the power of our lacrosse community that we will continue to build a strong Boys Youth Lacrosse program.

Girls Club History

The Wilson Girls Youth Lacrosse program started in 2003 with one team of 6th through 8th graders. These girls were the pioneers along with a handful of other middle school lacrosse scattered across Oregon. Since that time, lacrosse participation in the Pacific Northwest has expanded many fold.  In less than a decade, WYLAX has expanded to include several teams serving girls in 1st through 8th grade.

Coached and managed by parent volunteers, the WYLAX girls program has been a leader in developing lacrosse as a fun and competitive spring sport in Oregon. We are pleased that many of our graduates go on to play lacrosse at Wilson High School and at other private schools in the Portland area.

The University of Oregon started an NCAA Division 1 women's lacrosse program in 2006, and many other Northwest colleges and universities compete at the club level.  Simply put, lacrosse is exciting, fun to play, and regarded as the fastest growing girls sport in the country.
