Code of Conduct - Players

You pledge to comply with the letter and spirit of the Wilson Boys Youth Lacrosse Code of Conduct at all times as stated below. Specifically, you pledge to:

  • Be EARLY to practice and games. If practice starts at 5:45 pm, this means being fully geared up and ready to go by 5:40 pm, not arriving. Plan ahead.
  • Honor the game by working hard, playing hard, always doing the right thing, and treating everyone with respect and courtesy.
  • Demonstrate respect to other players, coaches, and parents; officials; and spectators.
  • We expect you to cheer on our team in a positive manner during the game and to play with sportsmanship. You are not to comment on the refs, EVER!
  • Demonstrate and encourage good sportsmanship and the concepts of fair play.
  • We expect you to lay with sportsmanship at all time. If you trip over a player, knock someone down unintentionally, foul, etc. make sure your opponent is ok
  • No slamming your stick on the ground. Ever.
  • No palms up. Ever.
  • Focus on learning, participation, fun, and always being a team player and/or program supporter.
  • Know and abide by the Rules of Lacrosse, the established guidelines, and all eligibility requirements.
  • Understand that the safety and welfare of all concerned is the top priority.
  • Support the drug, alcohol, and tobacco free environment that is important for all youth sporting events.

 
Further, you pledge NOT to:
Ever use profanity at a youth event;
Criticize coaches, players, or game officials;
Touch an opposing player, coach, or game official in a threatening manner.

Players, please understand that violating this "Code of Conduct" will result in disciplinary action, including: 

1. A verbal warning on first offense with immediate apology to the offended party/parties.
2. On second offense, player will sit out practice/game as applicable.
3. For third or multiple offenses, other disciplinary action (including potential expulsion from the team and/or program) will apply.

Board of Directors, Administrators, Program Assistants, Coaches, Parents and Supporters:

You pledge to comply with the letter and spirit of the Wilson Youth Boys Lacrosse Code of Conduct as follows:

  • Honor the game by working and coaching hard, always doing the right thing, and treating everyone with respect and courtesy;

  • Demonstrate respect to other players, coaches, and parents; officials; and spectators;

  • Demonstrate and encourage good sportsmanship and the concepts of fair play;

  • Give the boys our best at all times;

  • Know/abide by established Lacrosse Guidelines/Rules & eligibility requirements;

  • Understand that the safety and welfare of all concerned is the top priority;

  • Support the drug, alcohol, and tobacco free environment at all youth sporting events;

  • Coaches: focus on learning, participation, fun, and being a team coach and supporter;

  • Coaches: prepare written practice plans before practices;

  • Coaches: play all the boys approximately equal time in games if they live up to their code;

  • Coaches: take attendance, note tardiness, and hold boys accountable for their code;

  • Coaches: begin and end practices on time;

  • Coaches: show up to practices and games on time and

Further, you pledge NOT to:  use profanity at a youth event; criticize coaches, players, or game officials; and touch an opposing player, coach, or game official in a threatening manner.

This pledge and contract must be signed by any board member, administrator or coach involved in the Wilson Youth Lacrosse Program.

I understand that violating this "Code of Conduct" will result in disciplinary action to be determined and carried out by the Wilson Youth Boys Lacrosse Board.
